This enrages me greatly.

1. General lowering of moral standards

2. A rise in infidelity, and illegitimacy

3. The reduction of women to objects used to satisfy men

4. Government coercion in reproductive matters

1. Depends on how you operationalize the term “moral standards”; to me it would be inherently immoral to NOT provide birth control and other forms of contraception (like condoms) to whoever wants them and needs them; just because people are able to have sex, and participate in sex with multiple partners, while not procreating due in part to technologies like birth control, does not mean “moral standards” (whatever that even means) have decreased

2. There is a chance this is correlative (I haven’t looked at the data if it even exists from a reputable, scientific source), but it is definitely NOT causative; also, third variable problem anyone?; infidelity and illegitimacy are macrosocial issues (some people don’t even find them to be issues at all), and are also not new issues, as they’ve been around since like, always; cannot “blame” this on birth control; birth control has changed society, but we can only look at correlations, and retrospectively

3. Last I checked this has been the case since, well, FOREVER; it’s this cute thing society does to women…acts as if they’re owned property, like a couch, or a skateboard

4. See number 3

I am so sick of this bullshit patriarchy. Over it, done, let’s smash things.

Also, there’s this; teen pregnancies are down (though there are still grave disparities); what now, bigots?: http://www.wnyc.org/npr_articles/2012/feb/08/teen-pregnancies-hit-new-low-but-disparities-remain/
